From among the large number of postgraduate courses offered by German institutions of higher education, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports a carefully chosen selection of programmes of particular interest to junior executives from developing countries. These degree courses, which consist of one to two years of concentrated study, provide young, academically-trained professionals in leading positions from developing countries with the opportunity to engage in postgraduate education and training in their particular field or profession.
At present, postgraduate courses are offered in the following fields:

The Heinrich Böll Foundation awards scholarships to German and foreign students in keeping with the guidelines provided by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Federal Foreign Office (AA). The scholarship covers Bachelors, Masters, and PhD studies.

The Department of Economics of the University of Otago in New Zealand is expanding its PhD programme and invites applications for Ph.D. Studentships (Scholarships) . Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit. The University of Otago is New Zealand's leading research university. In the most recent national research evaluation exercise (PBRF) - equivalent to the British RAE and the Australian ERA - Otago was ranked first in Economics and first overall. The "la Caixa" savings bank Foundation and the Barcelona GSE offer 14 fully-funded scholarships to students from emerging and developing countries (*) with excellent academic backgrounds who will return to their home countries at the end of their professional training process to implement their knowledge.
This award covers:

The Development Economics Research Group (DERG) at the University of Göttingen invites applications for up to
3 Doctoral Positions in Development Economics
The positions are available from June 2010, and will be paid according to the TV-L 13 salary scale.
The doctoral students will be able to participate in the Ph.D. program of the faculty and, depending on their interest and expertise, are encouraged to contribute to on-going research projects in the DERG. Apart from research, some participation in teaching is also expected.
Successful candidates are expected to hold a superior MA, Diplom or equivalent in economics or a closely related field. Given the empirical focus of the DERG, we are particularly seeking candidates with strengths in econometrics and empirical analysis, as well as with prior exposure to development economics. Since the operating language of the DERG and all research activities is English, candidates should be fluent in English.
