You are eligible for this scholarship if you are an international student seeking admission to pursue a full-time MBA programme at NTU.

100 PhD Fellowships at The Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMA)

The Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMA) Graduate Fellowship at SMART

The Singapore Ministry of Education has established 100 four-year fellowships for new doctoral students at NTU or NUS who will conduct their research at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology Centre (SMART Centre).

The establishment of this Fellowship Programme is intended to attract to NTU and NUS the best and most talented doctoral students from Singapore, the region, and beyond and educate them to be future leaders in science and technology for Singapore and beyond. The Fellowship will provide them with the opportunity to be involved in the strategic research programmes at the SMART Centre and provide them with the opportunity to be co-advised by an MIT faculty member. The student may spend up to six months doing research at MIT.

The SMA Graduate Fellowship at SMART provides:
-up to four years of full tuition fees at the student's home university;
-a monthly stipend of S$3,200;
-a scholarly allowance of up to S$12,000 to help cover the expenses associated with a six month research residency at MIT;
-and co-supervision by an MIT and NTU/NUS faculty.

Postdoc at NTU Singapore (p2p storage, security)

A post-doctoral position (for a period of 12-18 months) is available at the School of Computer Engineering in NTU Singapore. The candidate should have strong background in distributed systems and security. The project for which the candidate is being sought is related to fine-grained access control in peer-to-peer storage systems, and with applications to decentralized online social networks.

The Sampoerna Foundation Overseas MBA Scholarship is a means to groom Indonesia's future business leaders. Sampoerna Foundation provides one (1) scholarship to pursue a Master's of Business Administration degree at leading university overseas. Upon completing the program, the scholarship recipient is required to return to Indonesia and endeavor to transfer his/ her knowledge to his/ her fellow citizens.

Basic Requirements:
. Indonesian citizen who is under 35 years of age when lodging the application;
· Hold a local Bachelor's degree from any discipline with a minimum GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale);
· Have a minimum of 2 year full-time professional work experience after the completion of the undergraduate degree;
· Currently did not enroll in graduate or post-graduate program, or obtained a Master's degree or equivalent;
· Did not graduate from an overseas tertiary institutions, unless was on a full scholarship;
· Do not receive other equivalent award or scholarship offering similar or other benefits at the time of the award;
· Has applied to the university(ies) that are recommended by Sampoerna Foundation for the academic year 2010/2011 by the closing date of this scholarship application (February 1, 2010);
· Submit the result of TOEFL/ IELTS and GMAT with the minimum score as required by the chosen university;
· Have motivation to return to Indonesia and work in Indonesia upon completion of the MBA program.

What is Covered?
The scholarship covers the following:

· GMAT and TOEFL/ IELTS reimbursement, one time only, based on original invoice;

· University application fee, for up to two (2) universities;

· Student visa application fee;

· Return airfares from Jakarta to the place of study;

· Tuition fees, for the duration of study;

· Living allowance, to support living costs during period of study;

· Literature allowance, to purchase textbooks required for study.

Eligibility / Criteria for Application

The Micron Scholarships are open to all nationalities and are awarded to dynamic and promising candidates to support them in their journey of academic discovery and achievement

Successful applicants must not concurrently hold any other scholarships
Applicants must gain acceptance to the National University of Singapore or Nanyang Technological University
Applicants must be enrolled in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Singapore or Nanyang Technological University

Frequently Asked Questions

I’m not sure if I wanted to be bonded to Micron upon graduation. Can I still apply?
Yes, you can still apply for the scholarship. Although all successful applicants will need to sign a bond, we offer shortlisted applicants the opportunity to visit Micron to learn about us, visit our operations, and speak to our engineers/ managers. This is an opportunity for you to get to know us better, before you are called in for interviews.


Once a scholar is selected, are they able to change schools (example: from NUS to NTU)?
Yes, as long as the Scholar graduates with a degree from one of the approved course/universities, and the exchange has been approved by the respective universities.


Does the selected scholar have to do an Industrial Attachment/Internship with Micron?
It is to the scholar’s advantage to have their Industrial Attachments/ Internships in MSA, since this gives him/her an early exposure & introduction to the work environment & nature at Micron.


Are scholars given preferential treatment in their job advancement after serving the bond with Micron?
Scholars will go through the normal interviewing and hiring procedures as any new hire. The position and starting pay will be based on experience, skills set, and any pay adjustments after hire will be based on performance.


Will selected scholars be allowed to pursue graduate studies before serving the bond?
Micron prefers the scholar to complete their bond period before pursuing graduate studies. We feel that this will give the student a better idea, after having worked in the industry, to determine exactly what area to focus their educational studies on. However, if there are any such requests, the Scholarship Committee will review these situations on a case by case basis.


Will a scholar, during their bond period, be considered for additional Micron training at other Asia locations or in the US?
While many engineers do travel overseas for technology transfer training, opportunities for such travel and overseas training are based on the skill set and performance of an individual, and dependent on the need of such travel and training. This applies to all Micron employees.


How many scholars are you looking to bring on this year?
There is no preset number of scholars that we must offer, and each application is assessed individually on their own merits. We are looking for students that have an interest in the semiconductor industry and long term career opportunities at Micron.


Do the scholars get to choose which department they want to work in during their bond period?
As part of the interview and selection process, the Scholarship committee matches students to departments where their educational experience, past IA experience (if there is one) and interest lies. We want the scholar to be happy and excited in their day to day work activities, and to be a solid contributor to Micron.


What are my career opportunities at Micron?
We recognize that individuals have different aspirations. Hence, engineers at Micron can pursue either a management career ladder or a technical career ladder.


What positions does Micron offer for Mechanical graduates?
There are many opportunities for Mechanical graduates in Micron, such as Equipment Engineers, Process Engineers & Package Development Engineers. These engineers are very crucial to operational processes.


What is the starting salary of an Engineer at Micron?
We offer competitive salaries, which commensurate with the individual’s qualifications and experience.


If I choose to do an overseas University attachment, can I do my Industrial Attachment with a company overseas?
This will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
